The note on the reverse reads as follows: 'Sketch of H.M. the Shah of Persia painted by me on June 29th 1891 at 4pm. in presence of Dr. Tholozan and others. The tree under the head was painted by H.M. the Shah at the same time. P. Macgregor Wilson'
