A FINE OTTOMAN MAGHRIBI SWORD (kilij), the single edged grooved blade widening before the tip, engraved on one side with a coarse inscription, the other with an armourer's stamp, the curving hilt, straight quillons and the entire sheath of partly gold washed silver extensively inset with turquoises and with jade panels, themselves inlaid with gold leaves radiating from small turquoises, the surrounds extensively enamelled with scrolling and flowering panels, two panels also with highly stylised peacocks, in brick-red, cobalt-blue and jade-green cloisonné enamels, the reverse of the quillons inscribed 'the work of Musa' and dated 1132 (1719-20 AD), the sheath also with an illegible inscription starting with the bismillah, 18th century (negligible damage)
