A MUGHAL CARVED AND DAMASCENED HELMET AND BODY PLATES, the helmet (khula khud) of hemispherical form carved with scrolling vine terminating in various flowerheads, associated plume holders and adjustable noseguard, inset with occasional turquoises, a damascened band of meandering feathery flowering vine around the base, the original spike replaced by an arrow tip, the steel mail skirt worked with designs in copper and brass links, the four body plates each of slightly curved rectangular form, the two side plates with upper central depressions, each with a central panel similarly carved to the helmet, in a similar damascened border, associated attachment buckles, the reverse of each with red velvet lining, 17th/18th century (rubbed areas of damascening and carving)
