NETHERLANDS 1852 First Issue Plated The following section and the cancellation section features the outstanding completed plating studies formed by Joseph Kaas. We have relied greatly on his plating knowledge and, where possible, have left the studies of each plate as complete as possible. Needless to say, in view of the great quantity of stamps involved, it is impossible to guarantee absolutely the veracity of the plating; however we believe this to be very accurate. Based on the latest information, we have checked the individual items, and these correspond to the given positions, which are indicated by the use of [ ]. In order to appreciate the excellent overall quality of these studies, viewing is strongly recommended.
used An interesting specialised collection arranged by plates with all plates well represented with shades, multiples and some cancellations in addition to which there are partial reconstructions of 5c. plate III and 10c. plate IV. The collection comprises 5c. (149) with strip of four (plate VI, central vertical crease between stamps), strips of three (2, both from plate III) and pairs (19), 10c. (205) with strip of five (plate IV, the lst stamp touched at top left), strip of four (2, plates IV and V), strip of three (plate IV), and pairs (13), and 15c. (19) with strips of three (2, one has vertical crease in margin between 2nd and 3rd stamps) and pairs (3, one touched). Mainly good to fine, some have faults but there are also some notable examples as well. (373). Photo for a selection.
