A FINE KHORASSAN ENGRAVED BRASS VASE of faceted baluster form flaring widely at the mouth, resting on domed foot with everted lower rim, the sides very finely engraved with cusped roundels depicting a variety of real and mythical winged creatures on a scrolling palmette vine ground, a band of similar kufic calligraphy above and semicircular panels below, the foot with four panels depicting coursing animals on vine grounds divided by palmette roundels, a rope-pattern stripe below, the neck with a copper-inlaid band, the interior of the mouth with a band of benedictory naskh cartouches divided by palmette roundels, 13th century (areas of corrosion, very slight repair)
