There is a very close parallel to the style of the densely scrolling floral designs in two shades of blue seen on the central medallion which is found on the body of a jug in the Patriarchal Collection (Carswell, J. and Dowsett, C.J.F.: Kütahya Tiles and Pottery from the Armenian Church of St.James, Jerusalem, Oxford, 1972, vol.1, pl.22a and p.81. The inscription in black majuscules around the body of the ewer is dated December 29th, 1716. The present double tile must have been made at a time very close to this.
