Lot Essay

Heneage Finch was educated at Westminster and Oxford. While at Oxford he became a pupil of John Baptist Malchair whose influence can clearly be seen in his work. His debt to Claude Lorrain can also be seen in many of these drawings. He was elected F.R.S. and later became a member of the Dilettanti Society
