SWISS. A RARE GOLD, ENAMEL AND STONE-SET DOUBLE-DIAL CALENDAR WATCH WITH SUN AND MOON INDICATION
unsigned, circa 1780
the gilt full-plate movement with going barrel and cylinder escapement, the main dial of puce enamel, centred with a visible paste-set balance and flanked by four subsidiary white rings for time, with Roman and Arabic numerals, date, continuous seconds and regulator, each separated by an applied paste-set fleur-de-lys, the back with a narrow white enamel chapter ring calibrated I-XII twice, the sunburst engraved centre with a semi-circular aperture revealing the enamelled sun and moon discs, the case with engraved bezels decorated in blue and white champleve enamels (some chips), together with slightly later double-strand gold chain with ruby and gold slide and matching seal - 42 mm diam.
