A typed inscription attached to the backboard reads 'originally inscribed on the back: "drawing by de Wint done before W.H. Dykes"'.
Nottingham Castle, now the home of the museum, appears on the hill in the distance. Other distant views of Nottingham are in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Gallery
