Paris, 1775-1781, with the discharge of Jean-Baptiste Fouache

Slightly tapering étui-à-cire of flattened oval section, the cover and base engine-turned and bordered with bands of acanthus; the cover chased with a rosette, the base engraved with scrolling initials "MG" -- 122 mm high, in fitted original shagreen case.
