AN ATTRACTIVE EMERALD AND DIAMOND PENDANT NECKLACEÿ

The detachable pendant designed as three emerald tassels suspended by an old mine-cut diamond trefoil from a larger carved emerald with carved emerald and old mine-cut diamond bell-shaped surmount to the carved emerald bead neckchain with old mine-cut diamond scroll intersections, circa 1930, 41.5 cm. (five diamonds deficient, pendant and surmount with pins to be worn as a brooch)

This necklace and lot 317 were given to H.R.H. Infanta Beatriz de Borbón of Spain, daughter of former King Alfonso XIII of Spain, by the ladies of the Barcelonian aristocracy on the occasion of her marriage to Don Alessandro Torlonia, Prince of Civitella Cesi. The wedding was held in the Gesú Church in Rome on the 14th of January, 1935. The Infanta later gave the parure as a wedding gift to her son and daughter-in-law, Don Marco Alfonso Torlonia and Princess Orsetta Caracciolo di Castagneto in 1960.
