A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH AN ENAMEL MINIATURE
Geneva, circa 1780, maker's mark crowned "M&P"

Oval box, the cover and base engraved with elliptical concentric engine-turning scattered with pellets, the sides with horizontal reeding and pellets, all enamelled in translucent light green, within borders of opalescent enamel beads alternating with green-enamelled leaves on matted bands, the cover centered by an oval enamel plaque painted en grisaille with Adonis taking farewell from Venus, within a gold frame bordered with opalescent enamel beads -- 85 mm wide, the front and rear side panels with minor chipping.
