Lot Essay

Daffinger's miniature is in the Albertina, Vienna, inv. nr 28103 (Nora Keil, op. cit., nr. 186). It is interesting to note that both Daffinger's and Peter's versions were exhibited in the Albertina in 1924. The hitherto unpublished identification of the sitter is due to an inscription on the backing paper of Peter's miniature.
