Vittorio Amadeo III, King of Sardinia, with short grey-powdered wig and black wig-bag, wearing a blue uniform with silver-braided scarlet facings and collar and silver epaulets, decorated with the jewel and the breast-star of the Order of the Most Sacred Annunciation of Savoy; oval -- 40 mm high, engraved gold mount.

Lot Essay

Vittorio Amadeo III of Savoy (1726-1796), King of Sardinia 1773-1796, married Maria-Antonieta, daughter of King Philip V of Spain, in 1750. Among their nine surviving children were the Sardinian Kings Carlo Emanuele IV, Vittorio Emanuele I (see lot 236), and Carlo Felice, and the Countesses of Provence and of Artois (see lot 169).
