This miniature is inspired by the large scale oil painting by the hand of Johann Georg Ziesenis. Philippine-Charlotte (1716-1801), wife of Duke Charles I of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, was the fifth child of King Frederick William I of Prussia (the famous Soldatenkönig) and his wife Sophie-Dorothea of Hannover.
