A young gentleman seated and playing the mandolin, an open libretto on a music-stand in front of him, his blue silk coat, waistcoat and culottes piped with pink, wearing a short powdered wig with black silk wig-bag -- 68 mm diam., gold mount with chased acanthus border, by Charles Brisson, Paris, 1774/1775, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, on the cover of a white-striped red lacquer Louis XVI bonbonnière (base missing).
