Lot Essay

Wichard Joachim Heinrich von Möllendorff (1724-1816) was first "Page" of King Frederick II. During the first Silesian War, he embarked on a military career, being awarded with the Royal Prussian Orders of the Pour le Mérite and later, in 1779, with the Black Eagle. At the peak of his career, he was created a Prussian "Generalfeldmarschall". Frederick the Great was very fond of him, mentioning him in his memoires, and the present ring is a further proof of their friendship.
