ATTRIBUTED TO GIOVINE, circa 1825

Maria-Cristina of Bourbon-Naples, Queen of Sardinia, wearing an elaborate white lace bonnet, low-cut green dress covered with embroidered white gauze, with ruffled lace collar, decorated with the badge of the Starry-Cross Order and the sash with jewel of the Spanish Order of Maria-Luisa; enamel on copper, oval -- 46 mm high, gilt-metal frame with scrolling and foliate cresting.

Lot Essay

Maria-Cristina of Bourbon (1779-1849), fifth daughter of Ferdinand IV, King of Naples (see lot 167) and his wife Maria-Carolina (see lot 170), was married to the future King Carlo Felice of Sardinia in 1807. A sister of Queen Marie-Amélie of France, she also was the aunt of the Duchess of Berry.
