The first book of engravings is dated 1769, the third to the eights are dated 1774, and the last three of 1775.
Jean-Frédéric Bignon (1747-1784), whom to this book was dedicated, was member of the Académie des Insriptions and in charge of the king's library. The arms engraved on the title page hold by two angels are BIgnon's. Cohen-de Ricci 812.
