Album of 140 albumen prints including one 2-part panorama. Circa 1867-72. Varying in size from 2¼ x 3½ in. (5.7 x 8.9 cm.) to 7½ x 9½ in. (19 x 24.1 cm.) or the reverse, the panorama 5¼ x 15¾ in. (13.3 x 40 cm.). 2 signed Bourne and numbered in the negatives, one signed Ritter & Molkentiller & Co. in the negative, 2 others numbered in the negatives, a few titled in the negatives, 13 with Frith's Series blindstamp, titled and dated in ink on mounts, hand decorated title page Places etc We Have Seen 1870, green leather, g.e.

Lot Essay

Varied travel album with approximately seventy photographs taken in India, including the hills in Simla, the pier and Chepauk Palace in Madras, the Mess and bandstand in 'Kamptee', several views of the Marble Rocks in Jabalpur as well as views in Bombay, 'Subathoo', Delhi and elsewhere. A few individual and group portraits include Delhi women, two small studies of Singhalese servants, senior representatives at the Ambala Durbar including Colonel Chamberlain and the Amir Sher Ali and portraits of R.A. officers including their theatrical group. The remaining prints include Colombo, a panorama of Madeira, a few views of the Suez Canal, scenic views in Athens and Malta and British and Irish subjects.
