A PAIR OF FINE GEORGE II SILVER SALVERS
maker's mark of Paul de Lamerie, London, 1734

Each shaped square, on four scroll feet with chased leaf on a matted ground, the tied-reeded rims with shells at intervals and chased folate scroll corner decoration, the borders engraved with scrolls on a matted ground, the field engraved with a border of strapwork, scrolls, trelliswork and rocaille with a crest in each corner, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms within a rococo cartouche, marked on reverses - 11 7/8in. (30.2cm.) long

The arms are those of Trevor impaling another probably borne by a son of Sir Thomas Trevor of Brynkinault, Speaker of the House of Commons and member of the Privy Council of William III. (2)
