Album containing seventy photographs, salt prints and albumen prints, 3½ x 2 5/8 in. to 15 x 9 in., five trimmed to oval, two inscribed Lux Fecit and two dated in French 4 Juillet 50 and 11 Juillet 1860 and others with dates partially trimmed in the negatives, one with red facsimile signature Bisson Frères on recto, variously mounted, the majority titled and a few dated in ink on mounts, covers lacking, (part disbound), large. 4to.

Including portraits of members of the Wilberforce family, Lord Gainsborough, Lord Gray, Monsieur and Madamoiselle de Castelbajac, Henry George Owen, Monsieur Dudley, Nelly and Jane Bainbridge sitting at a table, Monsieur L'Abbé Cadant, J.W. Allies, 'Monsieur Jowett - St. Germain', Captain Watson, Mr. Stanley, Miss Virtue; and views of the bridge near Pau, St. Jean de Lury, Ciboure, the Chateau at Pau and a still-life study of hare and fowl.

Three photographs by F. Maxwell Lyte, including the above view of the chateau of Henri IV at Pau, are included in a mixed album titled Calotypes Vol III in the photograph collection of the Royal Archives at Windsor. One of these is similarly inscribed by Lyte with Lux Fecit, a signature relating equally to his own name and the use of photography as a medium. Each is dated 1853.
