Gérôme executed his model of the Danseuse in 1890 and exhibited it at the Salon the following year. As with the majority of his bronzes, the Danseuse was cast by the Siot-Decauville foundry and was edited in three sizes. Versions were also sculpted in marble and in semi-precious stones.
