Lot Essay

The Viennese firm of Bakalowitz Söhne was the most important business partner of the glass manufacturers Loetz, and Hoffman designed a series of vases for the company in 1899. The surface decoration of the glass was known as Olympia Optisch, and was first introduced by Loetz in 1896.
Examples of Hoffmann's designs for Bakalowitz were exhibited at the V111th Secession Exhibition in Vienna in 1900
