The 1960s were an exciting time at the Jaguar factory. The E-type replaced the old XK models early in the decade and the various saloons were replaced by the XJ6 at the end of it. There had, of course, been the large saloons in the shape of the MkIX, and X and 420G but there were also the compact sports saloons that stemmed from the 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 of the 1950s. In MK II form these carried on to 1967, when the 3.8 was discontinued. The smaller-engined models then continued briefly as the 240 and 340, accounting for sales of 4,210 and 2,630 cars respectively.

This example which carries the Mark II style bumpers, wire wheels and leather upholstery seems a highly original example. It has been in the same current ownership since 1986 and has not been run in the past three years. It is said the brakes will need some attention before being roadworthy again. Apparently a sound example which could perhaps benefit from some renovation work to return to its former glory. It is the desirable 3.4 litre manual overdrive version.
