FROM THE ESTATE OF THE LATE JOHN WARD ESQ
1968 AUSTIN A60 CAMBRIDGE SALOON
Registration No. HPR 227F
Chassis No. A.HS9.239997
Engine No. 16AAU.H39993
Black with red leather interior
Engine: four cylinder, 1,622cc, 61bph at 5,250rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual; Brakes: front disc, rear drum; Suspension: front independent coils springs, rear, half elliptic leaf springs. Right hand drive
One of the most famous names in British motoring history is the Austin marque. In 1952 Austin merged with Morris to form the British Motor Corporation and from 1955 onwards all the Austin models save the 4-litre models had unitary construction. The Cambridge first appeared in 1955 with either A40 or A50 engines, by 1960 the A60 appeared and continued in production until 1969.
This example was purchased new by John Ward in January 1968 and was carefully maintained and serviced by him (with a service record) until 1987 and has covered a documented 81,000 miles. Mr Ward was a motor engineer by trade having trained as an engineer at Supermarine in Southampton, the Spitfire aeroplane builder. While the car has not been used since 1987 it has been kept garaged and periodically started and moved. With a little attention to the wheel arch corrosion (caused by storage deterioration) this genuine car with certified history from new should prove an ideal popular classic.
NO RESERVE.
