Daimler is one of the very few car manufacturers that can genuinely claim to have been in at the birth of the world's motor industry. The pioneer motorist King Edward VII had a great affection for Daimlers and this Royal connection was to be maintained for over half a century.
The Daimler 104 appeared in 1955 as a direct development of the preceding Regency II. It had a modified chassis, new servo-assisted brakes hydraulic brakes and an engine with 28 more power driven through a higher axle ratio. Then followed the Majestic, based on the 104 saloon structure but with revised full width wing treatment aft of the centre pillar, and the Majestic Major, a 4.6 litre V8 which may consider to be the last true Daimler as all models since then have had obvious Jaguar ancestry.
This car has had just one owner from new and comes with full history. All the bills relating to maintenance work carried out during the period still exist and the car has always been chauffeur driven, indeed one of the reasons that the owner (a well known city gentleman) purchased the car was because he found he could lie down across the back seat and sleep while travelling !
The total mileage from new is under 65,000 and the cars overall condition is very good, having been regularly serviced throughout its life. The interior upholstery is the original leather and the rear seat has always been fitted with a protective cover so its condition is like new.
