Lot Essay

The arms are those of Roche, Viscount Fermoy. Cf. D.S. Howard, op. cit., p.951, where he records that the service was "undoubtedly made for David Roche of Ballydangan, who was a general in the army of the King of Sardinia and greatly distinguished himself in the war between Maria Theresa and Louis XV, and particularly at the siege of Gerona in 1746"
