The cartouche-shaped padded back, arms, seat and squab-cushion upholstered in close-nailed green floral damask, the channelled frame with acanthus scrolls headed at the bowed toprail by an acanthus-spray, the conforming apron above cabriole legs headed by foliate flower-sprays, two legs spliced and restorations to sections of the seat-rail, stamped TILLIARD and with old paper label inscribed 540 C., with blue chalk inscription 540
