An inscription on the reverse identifies the sitter

François Anthoine comte de Rayneval was a son of Gabriel Marquis de Rayneval and Esther de Rayneval, née Lefebure de Parfondreux. François Anthoine married Annaa Elisabeth Glimmer in Paramaribo on 15 June 1702. According to an inscription on the reverse, François Anthoine served as a volontair in the Dutch Army
