A FINE GOLD PURSE MOUNT, finely cast and engraved with symbols of trade and wealth, on one side of the thumb-piece a seated oriental gentleman with a townscape in the distance, below with the figure of America, on the other side another oriental gentleman, seated before a sailing vessel and the figure of Europe below, the thumb-piece with Mercury, the rim decorated with shells, scrolls and foliage, the finial with the head and wings of Father Time and a hinged openworked terminal centred with an hourglass by Leonard Rijk (Citroen 660) Amsterdam, 1739
