A FINE PARCEL-GILT CYLINDRICAL LIDDED TANKARD on a domed circular foot, with a moulded body band, scroll handle, and domed and hinged cover with bifurcate scroll thumb-piece, the body finely engraved with an elegant lady and two gentlemen with oval cartouches joined by scrollwork, the underside scratch-engraved with initials, by Claus Sülssen II (Schliemann part I, no 224), Hamburg, circa 1655
