A FINE PARCEL-GILT TAPERING CYLINDRICAL LIDDED FLAGON or 'Hansekanne', on a domed and dished circular foot chased with cherubs' masks, foliage and fruit and applied with flowerheads, the body engraved with two friezes of arabesques, the part-fluted flattened domed cover chased with masks, foliage and fruit and with a cast finial formed as Diana the huntress, a hound at her side, the scroll handle cast with a caryatid, beading, a mask and a shell, with two egg and date and two rope-twist bands (thumbpiece missing), struck with maker's mark only, possibly that of Jochim Ruge (Royenn) (Scheffler 45), Stade (Hannover), circa 1600
