Lot Essay

This chair is most probably one of the proto-types or a modification of the proto-type for the final version Rietveld designed in 1934. The chair is both smaller and lower than later versions. Where seat and back join, screws with round heads and wahsers have been used and the nuts are not sunk into the wood. Also the nuts and bolts at the base are of less sophisticated variety than those used in later versions.
