A LARGE DAMASCENE BRASS PLATE, of circular form, inlaid in silver and copper, the flange decorated with twelve Biblical vignettes titled in Hebrew, alternated by stylized foliate medallions, the centre with twelve roundels containing the symbols of the tribes titled in Hebrew, surrounding the figures of Mozes and Aaron, two lions each beneath a pillar, flanking a crowned sun, Tablets of the Law, Jews praying at Ha-Kotel ha-ma'aravi interspersed with quotations in Hebrew, amongst others Psalm 113, v.3 about Mizrach, inscriptions relating to the rebuilding of Jerusalem, parts of other psalms and the beginning of the Shema-prayer, all on a ground of stylized scrolled foliage, Syria, circa 1880
