A HAND-WOVEN LINEN TORAH BINDER, embroidered with beige, brown, green and pastel blue silk thread, done in stem-, chain- and circular button-hole stitch, made of four pieces joined together by three beige ribbons, the long sides finished with a blanket-stitch, decorated with snakes, suns, stars, birds, an open Torah scroll, inscribed in Hebrew and titled above Keter [Torah], a Star of David, titled in Hebrew and a shield inscribed in Hebrew with the birthdate of the boy Yosef Wednesday 28 Cheshvan 1681, further several floral and zoomorphic letters, the letters filled in with geometrical patterns and some human faces, minor staining, some wear, several old repairs, otherwise good condition, probably Germany, 1681
