A HAND-WOVEN LINEN TORAH BINDER, embroidered with beige, brown, green, blue, red and purple silk thread, done in chain- and satin-stitch, made of four pieces, joined together and finished all-around with a decorative multi-coloured button-hole-stitch, decorated with four zoomorphic letters, two twin heads titled mazzal teomim, an open Torah scroll held by four hands and inscribed in Hebrew, a wedding canopy, inscribed in Hebrew u-le-chuppah, the letters filled in with floral and geometrical motifs, the bet in be-m[azzal] t[ov] featuring a boy's head with earlocks, the letters of le-p[erat] k[atan] filled in with Hebrew letters forming the birthdate of the boy Ya'akov 1691, the lamed of yigdal inscribed in Hebrew be-Torah, minor staining, one old repair, otherwise excellent condition, a very nice binder, probably Germany, 1691
