Lot Essay

Michael Robinson, after seeing the original, has kindly confirmed the attribution and suggested that the initials may have been added by van de Velde's studio. He suggested that the lead underdrawing may be by van de Velde I, subsequently reworked by his son. He will include this in his forthcoming publication on the drawings by Willem van de Velde I & II
