Two volumes, oblong folio (465 x 585mm). 48 sepia aquatint plates by and after Hodges, engraved map after Rennell, printed title, dedication, and 27 leaves of text only (of 29) in English and French, list of plates in vol.II only. (Slightly spotted.) Vol.I in contemporary russia (rebacked), vol.II in contemporary red morocco, t.e.g. (both scuffed).
Hodges, who had accompanied Cook on his second voyage, was one of the earliest English artists to bring back views of India. The publishing history of the work is uncertain, but this two volume edition is considered the earlier following the publication in parts. Abbey Travel 416. (2)
