Lot Essay

Richmond's diary for 1863 includes a description of the Maharanee Chund Kowhr. He refers to her as 'the real Governor of the Punjab' and accuses her of having been responsible for two Sikh wars. Richmond seems to have disliked her because 'she sat for three whole days without once uttering a word'
