(Without title or text, one lithograph slightly spotted, some mounts slightly soiled or waterstained, suggestions for binding in photocopy.) Original cloth portfolio, upper cover with morocco title label (slightly worn) .
VERY RARE COMPLETE SET of portraits of the prisoners with seven scenes of their captivity of members of the British force captured at Cabul during the first Afghan war, with suggestions for binding in Eyre's The Military Operations at Cabul or in Lady Florentia Sale's Journal of the Disasters in Afghanistan, both published in London in 1843. The portraits include the authors, Sir Alexander Burnes, Major Eldred Pottinger, Captains Skinner and Lawrence among others, as well as Mrs. Eyre and Mrs. Waller. Not in Abbey.
