THE PROPERTY OF THE HOOYKAAS FAMILY
The following 11 lots formed part of the collection of Simon Del Monte (1878-1930), Brussels. A catalogue of the collection was published by Glück in 1928 (referred to below as 'Glück'). After Simon's death the collection was inherited by his two children Mr. Frits Del Monte, Brummen and Mrs. W. Hooykaas-Del Monte, The Hague. Some pictures remained in the house of Simon's widow in Gouda and were subsequently sold at Sotheby's London, 24 June 1959, among which El Greco's Saint James, a double portrait of two children by Fabritius and a landscape by Paulus Potter
Fifteen pictures of the late Frits Del Monte were offered in these rooms, 29 May 1985, among which a still life of flowers in a glass vase by Jan Davidsz. de Heem and a picture of a village kermesse by Pieter Brueghel II.
