Zika and Lida Ascher revived the textlie industry in the immediate post-war years by uniting elements from the complex world of fabrics, art and fashion, providing designers such as Balenciaga, Hardy Amies, Dior, Givenchy, and Saint-Laurent with a constant flow of inventive textiles

Zika Ascher's liason with artists such as Calder, Derain, Henry Moore, Matisse and Graham Sutherland in the late 1940s produced a remarkable serries of screen-printed head-squares. This lot is a design of one of the two executed by Lucian Freud which was never produced
