Lot Essay

The attribution was first suggested by Dr. Karel Boon and confirmed by Professor Werner Sumowski. He dates this to circa 1653, and relates this drawing to one in the Weisgall Collection (op.cit., no. 1849x) and one of Vertumnus and Pomona formerly in the De Gier Collection (op.cit., no. 1954x). The attribition has since been doubted
