The Demolition of the House 'Weltevreden' at De Bilt

signed 'Van Hardenberg' and with inscription 'de in 1811. gedemolieerde plaats wel te vrede/onder de Bilt behorende aan Mr.S.C.: van/Musschenbroek' on the mount; black chalk, watercolour, black chalk framing lines

Lot Essay

The House 'Weltevreden' was first mentioned in 1754. In 1773 it was sold to the Van Musschenbroek family, who had it demolished in 1811. Another watercolour by the same hand of the demolition is still in the collection of the family
