Lot Essay

This view is taken from the north-west with the weighing house 'Keyserrijk' and the crane to the left, the house 'Groenewoude' beyond. A study of the same view by the artist in the Koninklijk Huisarchief, The Hague (inv.no. A/T20) is dated towards 1759. Jan de Beyer and Pieter Jan van Liender drew comparable views. A view of the Ganzemarkt by Willem Haanebrink is included in this sale as lot 317
