The present lot is part of a series of 60 views of cities attributed to Peeters in the same technique and with similar inscriptions made in the southern Netherlands and France, exhibited in Amsterdam, Gebr. Douwes Fine Art, Travelling Sketches By Jan Peeters, 1987, no. 22. A view of Coucy from this series is dated 1651. The city of Etampes is situated south of Paris
