This style of decoration relates to export stonewares of 16th-early 17th Century date, of which the best-known example in a Western collection is the 'Tradescent' sancai relief-moulded jar, now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, illustrated by Lion-Goldschmidt, op.cit., pl.277. However, these dishes have on occasion been dated as early as the Liao period, by reference primarily to the striking combination of glaze colour found on other (non-figural) Liao wares
