A PARCEL-GILT COIN TANKARD
by Mathias Pittcel II, Danzig, 2nd half 17th Century

On domed and spreading base applied with coins, the body with waved band below and set with twenty-one coins over a matted ground, the double-scroll handle cast and decorated with pricked scalework and stylised thumb-piece, the flat-domed and spreading cover set with a further band of coins and with finial in the shape of the pressic eagle - 22cm high (1275gr)

This tankard is applied with 46 coins in total, from contemporary governing Prince Regents, including;
- Elector of Sachsen Johan Georg I, 1611-1658
- Duke of Braunschweig, Georg I, 1582-1641
- Archduke of Austria, Leopold, 1619-1632 and
Ferdinand III, 1637-1657
- King of Poland, Sigismund III, 1587-1632 and
Landislas IV, 1632-1648
- King of Spain, Philip IV, 1621-1665
