A RARE SET OF FIVE SANCAI POTTERY EQUESTRIAN MUSICIAN FIGURES, each horse naturalistically modelled standing four-square on a rectangular base, the heads well modelled with open mouths and graceful forelocks dividing the forward pricked ears, the riders each wearing a high waisted coat and wool hood framing their fine features, three with drums attached to their saddle, one with a gong-type instrument, the last with reed slung over his shoulder, all covered in a speckled amber glaze mottled with patches of cream and green glaze (minor restoration),
